The Secret to Reframing Your Thoughts

“What consumes your mind controls your life.” – Cait Flanders

When I first started my life as an entrepreneur, I thought I had to know everything. If someone talked to me about something I had no knowledge of, I’d pretend I knew what they were talking about.

I thought it would make me weak or look stupid.

This pattern of thought held me back. It kept me stuck in a halfway place – between the corporate world and my dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

In order to truly find success, it’s important to focus on your mindset and the way you think. Sure, success requires massive courageous action but without the right mindset, most people never even start.

Many that do begin quit halfway through and lose all chance of success.

Which is why getting your thinking and your mindset aligned is so imperative.

How do you change the way you think?

After all, you’ve been running these same patterns of thoughts over and over again for years. You’ve tried to change habits before and that’s hard!

Changing your thought patterns quickly can seem overwhelming.

The Easy Way to Change Your Thoughts

Want to know something incredible? You can easily learn to change the way you think almost instantly by applying a technique known as ‘reframing’.

While it won’t eliminate the flood of negative thoughts that can fill your mind, it will help you look at things from a different angle. By practicing the art of reframing your thoughts consistently, within a couple weeks you’ll notice less and less negativity.

Before long you’ll become more positive than you ever were before.

How to Reframe Your Thoughts

Reframing your thoughts is deceptively simple. Flip a negative thought into a positive thought.

For example, imagine you’re thinking of starting a new business. Your mind may start to give all the reasons why you can’t. You may think, “I don’t know how to do this!”

This negative thought might be true. Maybe you’ve never started business. It might even feel overwhelming and out of reach. But instead of just giving up on your dream, simply reframe the thought and speak it aloud:

“I’m learning how to start a business. I’ll find out what I need to.”

The truth is, nothing stops you from finding out how to start your business. It’s a matter of research and learning what actually needs to get done.

It’s nearly impossible to defend negative thoughts once you’ve reframed them.

When you’re in the middle of a long project, feeling stuck and uncomfortable, and your mind tells you to quit, that it’s too difficult, reframe it:

“This is a challenge and I can handle it!”

Maybe you’re one of those people that tends to over prepare. You research and research, study all the options, and continue to tell yourself you’re not ready. Change that around:

“There’s never been a better time than now!”

Simply get started. You’ll learn as you go.

Do you stress and worry that you might fail? Tell yourself this:

“There is no failure, only feedback.”

This doesn’t mean you’ll never make mistakes. Instead it gives you permission to learn the lessons from any failure to help you succeed.

Do you tell yourself you can’t do this, or you can’t do that? Remove can’t from your vocabulary. Or if you have trouble with that, add this magic word to your statement: YET.

“I can’t do this…yet.”

This is reframing at its finest.

Reframing thoughts isn’t rocket science. Anyone can learn to do it. The first step is to notice the negative thoughts running through your mind. Speak your reframed thoughts out loud to begin to believe success is possible and look at challenges in a whole new way.

In a short time, you’ll create an optimistic mindset and will no longer sabotage yourself with negative self talk,

You are learning and growing. You can do this!
